If it were that simple, the Lord Jesus wouldn’t have made such a strict requirement (Mat. 6:14-15), nor that it be done as many times as necessary (Matt. 18:22).
Forgiveness comes from God; sorrow and resentment come from the devil.
Forgiveness saves, delivers, heals, transforms; it demonstrates something Divine.
Sorrow and resentment fuel hatred, wrath, strife, and ultimately, they kill.
Lack of forgiveness leads condemnation.
The devil plants seeds of sorrow in the heart of those who don’t know God.
While forgiveness illuminates, sorrow obscures.
And if God, the righteous Judge, forgives, who is man not to forgive?
Those who can’t forgive can’t be saved.
Anyone who dies without forgiving their offenders is condemned to the lake of fire and brimstone for eternity.
