19th Day of the Daniel Fast
Jesus answered, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. John 3:5
Consider this:
It wasn’t necessary for Jesus to say, ‘most assuredly’ because His Word is always true. Yet, he said it twice, in order to emphasize a never-before-seen revelation: No one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water (the Word) and of the Holy Spirit. That is, in order to be a child of God, you must be born of the Spirit of God.
This verse doesn’t refer to the baptism in the Holy Spirit, but to a personal experience between a human being and God.
The Holy Spirit convinces the person of their sins;
The sinner then recognizes that their soul is eternally lost and desperately cries out for forgiveness;
At this time, the Holy Spirit reveals who is the only One that can save him: the Lord Jesus.
Finally, he sincerely and unconditionally surrenders his life to the Lord Jesus and is born again through the Spirit of God.
