The
fairy lights and tinsel which are draped across every shop window,
announces loud and clear that the Christmas season is here. The hustle
and bustle of gift buying, turkey stuffing and preparing a five star
dinner take over and, before you know it, these activities take
precedence. And, somewhere in the midst of all the consumerism and
people pleasing, something very special is lost.
The spirit at this time of the year is, supposedly, to have joy,
unity, family togetherness, love, peace, giving and receiving; but let’s
be honest, in reality, very few people experience these things.
More often than not, families are affected or torn apart by quarrels.
People struggle to pay monthly bill sink deeper into debt and, for all
the smiles which are captured in photos and posted on Facebook,
Christmas turns out to be nothing short of a disaster.
The festive season does not erase the problems which become
synonymous with some people’s names, as in, “John who is always broke”,
“Lizzie who is in and out of hospital”, “Charlie who is unlucky in
love”, “Sam who is always depressed”, but a little faith and Divine
intervention could give birth to your very own Christmas miracle, and
truly make this a season to be jolly.
Such was the case of Elizabeth,
who was the talk of the town, as “Zacharias’s barren wife”. Elizabeth’s
pain and humiliation was erased the day God blessed her with a son
named John. “For with God nothing will be impossible.” (Luke 1.37). It was a miracle for Elizabeth, and word spread like wild fire.
Wouldn’t you also like to be known for the great things which happen in your life?
This Christmas you are invited to a service which is like no other.
It will not be about Christmas caroling, Santa Claus, ornaments, lights
or decorations. It will be a meeting of faith for those who need a solution to their problem.
The Bible says that there is nothing impossible for God, and blessed
are those who believe… Are you willing to believe this Christmas?
